YeongDong is the place where Nangye. Park Yeon(Nangye is a pseudonymlwas born and the place is full of things related to Korean clssical music. The Nangye Korean Classical Musicl Orchestra was formed in May 1991 to develop the musical achievement and artistic spirit of Nangye, Park Yeon, and to promote YeongDong as the homeland of Korean classical music. With its debut concert in October 1991, the Nangye Korean Classical Music Orchestra has gained an enthusiastic reception from the people. Since then, the Orchestra has performed at the Gwangju Biennale, the national Korean classical orchestral music festival, and the Kyeongju World Culture EXPO.
Through its efforts, compact discs of Korean classical music have been sold for the first time among local self-governing bodies. The Orchestra is famous for its talent abroad as well as withing the country
